The eduVision 2020 initiative will support the national eLearning project

Between the 16th to the 17th of September 2011 eduVision 2020 international conference gathered ministers and representatives of education ministries from Europe, Africa, Middle East and CIS, members of the European Commission, the embassies and consulates, teachers, education researchers and opinion leaders in order to launch the eduVision 2020 initiative.

2020 eduVision Initiative recognizes, supports and endorses the principles and objectives set in the multi-partnership process that took place in the World Summit on the Information Society, as well as those established in the Digital Agenda 2020 of the European Union.

On the first day of the event, attended by over 300 guests, the presentations were focused on highlighting the prospects of implementing the eLearning system: by the power of example, case studies of Cyprus, Malta, Azerbaijan and Egypt have made strong arguments for the effectiveness and the positive impact of such a system. Technological solutions for eLearning were presented, some of which could be explored in the exhibition open to participants.

Daniel Funeriu, Minister of Education, Research, Sport and Youth, said: "Increasing literacy is imperative. School must come with the guidelines, including in terms of IT & C, guidelines that help students to distinguish useful information from background noise. What could change the entire face of the curricula anf the education system are the eLearning platform and the digital school library".

On the second event day participants talked about creating a national e-learning project. Some case studies presented from countries such as Oman, Algeria, Egypt and Serbia have shown again the steps and implementation methods, as well as the success in implementing eLearning in the local educational system.

Florin Lupescu, Senior Adviser from the European Commission, the General Directorate for Information Society and Media, said: "The changes in education require more time and a holistic approach. We presented SIVECO Romania expertise in the implementation of decisions related to education to the Commission members and they were very pleased. Education is the last frontier of the digital revolution. I trust that we will transfer to a digital education and real digital society".

Tatiana Potîng, Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Moldova, added: "eduVision 2020 initiative is a good lesson we should learn. We understand all that the school should be in line with life. School should be attractive to our students and this will only succeed when we integrate technology education in all schools in Moldova".

"We want to have students that are prepared for society and must therefore provide competence for new jobs. We are very proud to work with SIVECO Romania that provides us with 5,000 interactive learning objects in Arabic. A good thing SIVECO Romania did is to launch a competition among teachers to encourage them to provide the best educational content, "said Dr. Abdalla Al Amiri, advisor in the Ministry of Education in UAE.

From a knowledge perspective, the eduVision 2020 Initiative will provide a favorable framework for better understanding and dissemination of strategies applied successfully to increase the efficiency of education through IT&C, as well as highlighting the obstacles encountered and ways to overcome them. From an operational perspective, the Initiative supports piloting and deploying those concepts whose implementation leads to positive and measurable results in increasing performance of school education by using innovative IT&C on a large scale.

eduVision 2020 conference, the most important event for eLearning and education development in Eastern Europe, was organized by Agora Group and SIVECO Romania, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports, of the Ministry of Communications and the Information Society and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having the scope of presenting the newest trends in education and eLearning, to define the best practices on using IT&C for education and to create a common vision for the future of education worldwide.
